In the 10 past years, there was a big "brouhaha" concerning Cobalt Chloride. That is crazy and it comes from extremist people, but that is not the most important. Today, for the warranty of our customers, we are please to provide the official European Commission position and decision, which will make people more comfortable with the use of our products. The ECHA (official European Chemical Agency, created by the European commission to take care of the application of REACH in Europe), established, in January 2009 and confirmed in June 2009, that there is NO alternative chemical substances or technology suitable to replace the Cobalt Chloride as humidity indicator. So as there is no alternative, people can, legally, continue to use Cobalt Chloride, but they have to do it in respect of REACH. You will find official documents at:
